SYNOPSIS Screen legend Michael Caine is an OAP-turned-vigilante as he hunts down the killers of his best friend on a rough London housing estate.
Retired Royal Marine and widower Harry Brown (Michael Caine) lives an uneventful life shooting the breeze and playing chess with his mate Leonard (David Bradley) in their local boozer in Elephant & Castle. The neighbourhood, however, is less than idyllic, having become a hotbed of drug dealing and violent crime for savage rival gangs. The local law enforcement, in the form of detectives Frampton (Emily Mortimer) and Hickock (Charlie Creed-Miles), seem to do little more than deliver bad news when a shooting or knife attack claims another young life. However, when Leonard is murdered by one of the gangs and the police are powerless to prosecute, Harry decides to take the law into his own hands as he quietly prepares for payback and begins his merciless hunt for the killers.

Saw this at the cinema last Monday evening - effing brilliant! *Very* violent (just my cuppa char) and extremely thought provoking ie I thank my lucky stars I don't have to live in a place like that Michael Caine was excellent in the role, I know some people don't rate him much but I think he's great. Foul language, brutal scenes, loved it! Quite scary tho, in that there probably *are* places like that in Britain and that stuff *does* probably go on
Recommended (but not if you're the hearts and flowers type )

sounds a bit like an english "Gran Torino" with Clint Eastwood, only much more violent. I Had heard it was good. Michael Caine is a decent actor but he's probably made more bad movies than good (Jaws 4 anyone?) , but i thought he was great in the recent Batman movies but will always be a legend for his performance in "Zulu".
