Seen the latest incarnation three times now and I'm more than satisfied with the result. C.S.Lewis' tale of The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe was compulsive reading when I were a lad! The TV adaptations were okay but this big screen outing is very faithful. Even more interesting, it's taking more than the expected holiday favourite King Kong.

Well i went to see this with the kids in the run up to xmas & i have to say i found it VERY BORING , but the most damning verdict came from my 9yr old daughter who was asking if we could go home about halfway thru , all my kids have seen previous versions of this, so knew what to expect & actually chose this over King Kong, i`m sorry to say for us it was a big xmas let down : - (

I think I preferred The Producers, which I went to see last week.

It's always down to personal taste I guess. In my line of work I get to see a lot of movies...for free as a carer, and the lads I look after tend to go for the fantasy films like Star Wars, Batman Begins, King Kong & Narnia plus the animations like The Incredibles. I couldn't help notice that in all the times I've seen Kong & Narnia, and trust me I know the scripts back to front by now, bums on seats favoured The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. I guess Kong was too long and Narnia's more of a 'family' film.

The morning after seeng this entertaining escapist film I am sure I heard growling noises in my wardrobe! Mind you, it could be that some of my shirts just don't get on with each other, you know how shirts are first thing in the morning, woken up by the door opening and the clothes hangers making a racket -they do get rather grumpy. Peter Gabriel once sang, I know What I Like In My Wardrobe.... (suddenly Boatman's thread gets kidnapped by a large box of Turkish Delight, which is actually one of the ARfm moderators in a rather cunning disguise).....

The first time I got interested in the Narnia story was when I saw an episode of The Young Ones in the 80s where Vivian went through the wardrobe.
This cinema release was the first time I've seen it and I treated it like an entertaing Sci Fi story. But I think script writers could have a lot of fun with the concept of going into a wardrobe and reappearing somewhere else.
For example, you reach in for your blue denim gig jacket and find yourself wandering through into a concert from the past or the future! And...... uh oh, the moderator's finger is hovering over the delete button - d'oh!

I've not seen Mr Benn - (only Tony when he used to be on the news) I will have to investigate.... (Boatman heads for his wardrobe and hopes to re-appear in the time and place when Mr Benn was being broadcast, although as with all these great plans they can and do go wrong - oh dear) ....

The Boatman fell for his wife's claim that there were growling noises coming from her wardrobe too. Erm don't tell me you don't like talking lions either? Johnny Morris RIP

Ok I am starting to worry about Boatman's somewhat unnatural obsession with wardrdrobes.... ;D Actually I did used to have a fantasy about a wardrobe myself but that's another story ;D Talking lions? Love 'em - Parsley is the main dude, and the lion in Daktari rocked (can't remember if he could talk but he was cute and cuddly )
