Not exactly a film buff myself... but I'd like to ask this question.
Studios seem to be going through a remake phase and I see that new versions of Pride & Prejudice and Oliver Twist are about to go onto the streets.
Do remakes of old 'classics' like this appeal to people? All they remind me of was BBC Sunday evening telly when I was a kid (Yeah, it was Black N White telly in those days before anyone says anything!!)

Steve Do you just mean bodice rippers or classics like Some Like It Hot, Whistle Down The Wind, Lavender Hill Mob or The Ladykillers - oh they`ve done a remake of this too!
Friend of mine who runs a Creative Writing course says there is a distinct lack of original screenplays at the moment. So this could account for the remakes.

My wife can`t wait to see the new Pride & Predjudice thing (she`ll be going by herself ) she has had the old BBC thing on videos for years , surely there can`t be any men interested in all that shite

Ok, so what's the basis of the plot?
What would make a good film that appeals to all?

Don't ask her about the kitchen table and crashing plates tho.......... ;D LOL I actually can't stand 'romantic comedies' or 'chick flicks' so I'd hate anything like that!

Heard good reviews about Pride & Predjudice. Kiera Knightley is hot in Hollywood these days. I remember her in Bend It Like Beckham. April wants a bit of bodice ripping drama, so it looks like a trip to the local multiplex as opposed to a night of passion this Friday! I must make sure there's not too much mustard squirted on the hot dogs! Red Eye's recommended, plus The Dukes Of Hazzard. I noticed that Stealth was taken off double quick. Clearly going straight to DVD. I didn't think it was THAT bad. Any views on Crash. Heard it's good but not had the opportunity to see it yet?
