After (give or take…er…carry the one…oooh) many shows (or as some people know them, ‘attacks’) I announce with sadness that The Random Rock Inn closes its doors for weekend broadcast from Sunday 23rd July. My current and pending work commitments have become such that Sunday’s outing would no longer be viable, hence I hesitantly withdraw from the ‘front line’ at least for the time being.
I am not doing a complete disappearing act, the opposite in fact, I will still be hanging around the forums like I hang around secondary schools and I will be trying to get to events (such as the Tamworth gig in March) to put one or two breakfast related wrongs right (FAO Nick ). You might say I will be doing several things behind the scenes when possible.
As the station continues to reach the parts that others cannot, I may find myself winning the Inn back from Steve (he actually took the keys after a 49 hour game of ‘name the Whitesnake intro’*) and the madness may take to the airwaves again as we explore exciting new mediums (such as messenger pigeon).
The thank you's etc will be distributed nearer the time as I try to get some advice on this from Halle Berry and Gwyneth Paltrow who I'm sure you will agree are masters of the genre . For now I'll say with utmost sincerity that to work with, to entertain (or die trying) and drink with you guys are the best in the business and I thank you for the experience so far. ;D
Keep supporting real rock radio as I will and best of luck to whoever takes the helm in my absence.
My 'last' show will be broadcast at the usual time on Sunday 23rd July from the Birmingham studio.
Cheers!
Ben
*May not have happened in real life, the Random Rock Inn is a metaphor not a physical licensed drinking hole (FAO Ember Inns - this is why I won't "sell")
