In case you missed the show on Sunday....
The Undying Fire is a collection of 14 tracks, a mixture of brand new songs along with unreleased tracks, and finished off with 3 live tracks recorded at Firefest IV.
The CD is available now for pre-order from the ARfm Shop and will also be on sale at Firefest (at the Merch stand) for the sum of £10 (plus p&p if you are ordering from the ARfm Shop)
So, in order to fill you in... here are some details of the songs:
1. House Of Lords - Point Of No Return: At the time I called James Christian the band were just planning their new studio album. PONR was written and ready to go so James agreed to record it and give it to us. All done in 3 days.
2. Valentine - Luv Honey: This was originally a demo for the 2nd Valentine album which never came out. Delivered to us in raw form, the track was mastered in the studio in a very short time by Mr Newman. It's a cool song which shows the direction Valentine may have taken had they not morphed into Open Skies.
3. Shadowman - Freefall: Unreleased track from the second Shadowman CD and kindly donated by Escape Music and Steve Overland. It's one of those songs that makes you wonder why it never made the album and is trademark Steve O!
4. Newman - Don't Know Why: Written in August 08 by Steve Newman whilst he was lying on a beach in the Mediteranean (I kid you not!). Steve had agreed to hand all the studio work for the CD and write a new song for it at the same time. He had a holiday booked in the middle of all this work so whilst he should have been checking the eye-candy he was working on a new track - good man! You'll love this one!
5. Robin Beck - I'm Serious: Robin, backed by HOL recorded this in a few days after the HOL session that resulted in Track 1. It's a very powerful song and one that will please Robin's fans. Robin also found time to do backing vocals on Track 10... what a star!
6. Talon - Paradise: A song left over from the first Talon album. Many of you may have noticed that the same song appears on the new Talon CD... but this is a completely different version, not least cos they have a new vocalist!
7. Crunch - The World We Knew: Brand new Crunch song put together by Vince and the boys is just three days and under very trying circumstances. If this is an indication of the quality of the new Crunch album we will all be very happy.
8. Bombay Black - Without You (Regrooved Mix): A different version of the song from the album. BB were unable to get us a new track in time so Ty set to work remixing a trademark BB number. In your face Bombay Black!
9. Heartland - I Believe: A song left over from the Mind Your Head album. There were plans to use this track as the Japanese bonus but things changed.
10. Nina Soderquist with Tommy Denander: Tommy is a real star and came to our rescue with this song. We had another track lined up but suddenly discovered we couldn't use it. Nina, now a West End star in Spamalot, has been working with Tommy and this is a result. Backing vox are provided by Robin Beck.
11. Stormzone - On A Wing And A Prayer: Harv was so pleased to help...he sent us two tracks and believe me, it was a tough choice as to which one we should use. A powerful in ya face Stormzone number...full on.
12. Harem Scarem - Karma Cleansing
13. Valentine - Tears In The Night
14. FM - Bad Luck
The above 3 tracks were all recorded at Firefest V and have been used with the kind permission of Firefest and the bands.
Steve
PS: Ironically, my initial reservations with this CD have been proved unfounded. Since we announced this several other artists and labels have been in touch with us ASKING to be involved in Vol. 2. Whether my nerves will handle another disc... I have no idea!
