FM transmitter - Not a realistic option we're afraid. The number of FM frequencies being handed out by Ofcom are on an ever decreasing scale and to be honest, they will soon stop the issue of any more.
DAB - More realistic but the costs would have to come down. There is rather a strange situation at the moment in the UK which means that the current DAB transmitter sites are owned by a company called DigitalOne which in turn is owned by GCap, the very company that runs Capital, Planet Rock and others. No surprise then, that Planet Rock is on every DAB! We estimate that the current cost of getting ARfm onto all the major DAB transmitters would be £0.5million a year and that, trust me, is slightly more than our pockets would stretch to! Ofcom are looking into the situation on behalf all small stations as they believe we are being priced out of the market an, apparently, they will be announcing solutions some time in 2006.
Of course, once we are back on Sky...ever thought about getting a second Satellite box? A FreeSat one would work and you could manually tune it in.

Maybe if the whole station looked as professional as it sounds then the whole issue of the comfort blanket of SKY broadcasting wouldnt be the distraction that it is from the real commercial purpose of getting out there, getting serious, getting sponsorship and doing it, not playing at playing it!

Maybe if the whole station looked as professional as it sounds then the whole issue of the comfort blanket of SKY broadcasting wouldn't be the distraction that it is from the real commercial purpose of getting out there, getting serious, getting sponsorship and doing it, not playing at playing it! Hi, Not sure I get your drift here, maybe it's just me and it is too early in the morning. Thank you for saying we sound professional, but... how can we look professional? We're always open to suggestions, but at the moment ARFM is I suppose our 'hobby', (well a bit more than that, just ask long suffering other half type persons). We are self funded and have been searching for, lets put this very bluntly, money. Without that we can't do anything. Sky, DAB, FM, and even our INTERNET service costs money. Yep it sounds like we're moaning again, we probably are, but our pockets are not deep. Everyone has a day job, with families, mortgages, etc.etc so we have to stay in the day job to be able to carry on. Now if someone came along with a nice sponsorship deal maybe things could change. The blunt truth is that even our INTERNET service (cheapest option at the moment) can not carry on indefinitely without a bit more revenue coming in. Don't forget we're only just over 12 months old, I think we've come a heck of a long way in a very short space of time. We're still expanding our horizons but you, the loyal listener, won't get the benefit of all of our ideas just yet, sorry! But we're working on it. Right got to go I'm interviewing Ian Anderson this morning, then I'm off back to my day job, then back to the studio to edit the interview, install some new adverts and jingles ready for the weekend shows from Birmingham, so I might get home at about 7.30pm and I know that the folks at London do the same, (sometimes even longer hours), to make sure everything works every weekend. So please if there is anybody out there who does fancy sponsoring the best rock station in the world, please get in touch. Cheers Moaning Prog Paul

Don't worry Paul, I'll give ARFM £0.5M from my Euro Millions lottery win tonight. Yes, I know the odds are 76 million-to-one against, but I've bought 2 tickets as a back-up, just in case!

Cheers Arenean Now with that kind of optimism how can we fail.... Right off to the paper shop to get some lotto tickets... Umm but will that reduce the odds of Arenean winning? And I'll have spent a couple of quid that I maybe could have saved... oh woe is me... woe and thrice woe.... Nahhhhhhh Right best dash Mr Anderson is due to call in 5 minutes... Byeeee Prog Paul

I'd love to look like a clone of Danny Vaughn or John Sykes. But while blokes with these looks and that much talent are out there doing the business, it's up to us 'non' lookers to do the research and play the music to an eager online worldwide audience and give 'non' established talent an equal playing field. That's why we're on radio and not TV. Judge us by the music we play and not by our physical appearance. If the latter is THAT important, you've subscribed to the wrong station.

We should do an ARfm calendar with strategically placed CDs/Vinyl etc and see what the response is.
I'll get my coat...
