From MR.Com
BOBBY KIMBALL UPDATES AKA: Vocalist Bobby Kimball has updated his MySpace site to reflect changes to his previous announcement of the AKA band project. The new update reads: "I would like to let everyone know that my new band, named "AKA" with some of my great friends are working on a CD at the moment, getting ready for a tour of the world. The members are Tony Kaye (original keyboardist from "Yes"), Billy Sherwood (Guitar player/singer/producer with "Yes"), Jimmy Haun (Guitarist on the "Union" CD from "Yes"), and Jay Schellen on drums, also presently the drummer with "Asia-JP". The CD is coming along great, and has so many elements from Toto/Yes and Circa in the music. I sincerely apologize about the Italian Tour that was advertised, but didn't happen. I can assure you it was a problem with the Promoter, and not the band. I'll be announcing many dates very soon. We will be in Europe during Oct.-Nov., but our agent is working on dates for us in the USA, South America, The Far East, and hopefully somewhere near anyone who is reading this post. It's a great band, and a lot of fun for all of us. I do hope you'll come out and join us for some familiar and non-familiar music soon. I promise you have a great time listening to this band. My best to you all, and be watching the page for some music clips and new pictures of the band...PS: The "AKA" MySpace page will be up next week with new photos and music from the new CD...coming very soon."

No probs mate.
I'm a massive fan of Bobby Kimball and this band sounds very promising, BUT it seems weird to me to have a new band with no physical product as yet available headline a festival.

The only thing is if they end up playin songs from each others bands you end up with a cover band (albeit with superstar musos) headlining a festival.

I think the plan is for the band to play an orignal set of AKA songs with a few classics thrown into flesh out the set.
I understand what you mean lindsay, if it did turn out to be a Big Noize / Scrap Metal type thing i would be disapointed. But i believe it is to be a mostly AKA orignal set...
It is risky given the fact no one knows their AKA songs but when the songs get out it could have people going nuts for a new orignal AOR band, but obviously a bad album could have the opposite effect, therin lies the risk!

I believe a press release is in the works and the faults lie with AKA who are no longer doing their european tour with so as DR Sin were lined up as support for AKA they are out too. From what it says on MR.com this is NOT a specific problem with Rockfest ......AKA have problems in general with changing agents and an impending name change.
I say bump JJ up to headliner and draft in Tara's Secret & Fair Warning!

ROCKFEST LINE-UP UPDATED: Rockfest takes place at JBs in Dudley, UK on Saturday 21st November! We are very pleased to announce TWO acts who will be playing this new festival...two acts who will bring something extra to an already strong line up which I'm sure you will agree. The first band we are happy to announce is a young band hailing from Birmingham, UK - Kinn. A new name to most people, but one that we are sure will be rising to the top and flying the British Rock Flag very soon! You can check out their music at www.myspace.com/kinn. With influences ranging from Black Stone Cherry, Guns N Roses, Alterbridge amongst many others, so a band that will bring something different to Rockfest. The Second band is one VERY well known to most people, if not everyone....and the voice of Danger Danger....Ted Poley! Expect to hear songs from his back catalogue including Danger Danger, solo, and maybe a surprise or two. Ready to party with one of the most entertaining front men? "The band and I (including Vic Rivera) couldn't be more psyched up to return to JB's in November to ROCK with such a cool line up. I am really looking forward to seeing many of the other cool bands in the line up and very thankful to be added. We had a great time on our last trip to Dudley and we will be working on a KILLER set for this Festival, different than the last trip, some cool surprises and we will be meeting and greeting our asses off too. We hope to see everyone there!" WebLink: www.rockfest.org.uk
