It is with a heavy heart that for intensely personal reasons I have to announce my decision to retire from ARfm. This afternoon's programme and tomorrow's Greasy Spoon Breakfast Show will be the final programmes to round up 2009.
It has been an absolute privilege to have worked on ARfm for the last five years and a joy to work with such a great team on the station. It has been particularly wonderful to work with Steve as we go back a long way as you may know.
I also want to thank all the wonderful listeners and all the new friends I have made in this time while working on the finest and most dedicated rock radio station we have, and are ever likely to hear in our lifetimes.
Have a fantastic 2010
All the best

Hi Paul,
A sad day indeed.
Hopefully you'll find your way back behind the mic here on ARfm in the not too distant future.
All the best to you both.

tis a real shame, who's gonna keep the Southern Rock flag flying now ? but i do understand, there is a hell of a lot of work that goes into creating an entertaining 3 hour show & you also had the 2 hour Greasy Spoon to do as well, i`d like to wish you the best of luck in whatever you chose to do next, i have enjoyed your shows immensely especially the monthly Redneck Review

Thank you all so much for your good wishes. I've been genuinely touched by your messages both on and off the board. I put a blog on my myspace page to explain in a little more detail. I've had the chance to be a listener these last weekends and I have to say that John, Mike and Dominic have made Saturday listening so brilliantly fresh and vibrant. John in particular for filling in the three to six slot, I stand relieved. The repeats of Joe's Thursday shows fit perfectly in for The Greasy Spoon. Jack, the strains of dixie may still be heard in the not too distant future. The Redneck Review could be back. Watch this space. Thank you all again. Best wishes PC
