I watched this series for the Sue Townshend ('Adrian Mole' author) interview, and also for Steve Coogan in the extracts from the Samuel Pepys drama he was in.
I also enjoyed the bits on Virginia Woolf, who wasn't the mardy cow Nicole Kidman depicted her as in 'The Hours' going by the woman who edited Woolf's diaries for publishing. She was an absolute bitch! Some of the extracts showed Woolf slagging off party guests and they came across like the aftermath of some of my less-enjoyed family gatherings.
This week's also featured Alan Clarke's diaries (the MP, not Allen Clarke of The Hollies). I kept noticing a piano version of Air's 'Playground Love' during the bits discussing his liver cancer, and it's a pity Ashley Franklin isn't here to tell us if this version is on the 'Virgin Suicides' soundtrack album.
