I really enjoyed this movie! Wes Anderson, the director, took a simple story by Roald Dahl and put his own dysfunctional family spin on it.
So while Mr. Fox is raiding the farms of Boggis, Bunce and Bean, Mrs. Fox is fed up because she wants him to lead a respectable life. Their son, Ash, is jealous of the nephew, Kristofferson, because he can do everything he can't.
There is a really sweet scene where the son and nephew eventually bond over Mr. Fox's train set in the bedroom after Ash makes Kristofferson cry!
Mr. Fox gets his plumber, Kiley (a possum), an estate agent badger and other woodland creatures in on his raids and the local TV station cover the farmers' reaction to these. There is also a very nasty rat who allegedly guards the stock of cider but is just as wrecked on it as Kiley gets! Kristofferson eventually teaches his martial arts skills to Ash and everything gets sorted.
A lovely choice of songs on the soundtrack too; 'Heroes & Villains' (Beach Boys) while the hero's on his raids for one. And yes, I am biased because Jarvis Cocker (Sheffield born) voices the character of Petey the odd job man!
Boggis also reminded me of Peter Serafinowicz's Butterfield character, and Bunce could have been modelled on Peter Mandelson!
