Steve Coogan stars in this new sitcom starting tomorrow night (Monday) on BBC2 as ex roadie Tom Saxondale: "A roadie who never quite made the biggest tours and has now settled down with girlfriend Magz, and working as a pest controller. Tom isn't nearly as smart as he likes to imagine, plus he's got anger management issues, which come to the fore when he's confronted by animal rights acticvists while on a pigeon shooting mission" Looks like it might be good...

Did anyone watch it? I did....it was ok, a bit slow but I suppose the first episode is just setting the scene. Perhaps it will improve as it goes on. He's a bit of grumpy s*d though isn't he? LOL

Nick and I watched it..it was funny in places and he`s obviously done his research..I dont remember seeing him at Knebworth though LOL Maybe he didnt do both There were some cheesy moments though and is the young lad he`s taken on, the same actor as the one who was in The Grimleys?

I missed it due to bad weather in our region interfering with the TV signal. But it looks to have good credentials - the girlfriend is played by the actress who played Jill's assistant in 'Nighty Night' (made by Steve Coogan's Baby Cow company) and who also played Myfanwy the barmaid in 'Little Britain'. I hope there's a repeat.

Did anyone see the episode where Mark Williams played another ex-roadie friend of Saxondale's? It was quite sad, really, as they met again at a friend's funeral. The Mark Williams character never gave up his rock 'n roll lifestyle and suffered some kind of attack which led to his leg being amputated - I think Steve Coogan must have seen the John Martyn documentary relating to that happening to the singer.

The actor who plays the anger management meeting leader is also in 'A Cock & Bull Story'. I borrowed this on DVD, but was very disappointed with it. Steve Coogan & Rob Brydon are the principal actors, but it's like the film equivalent of say, GTR, in that the participants are all good in their previous things, but the result is very poor.

Well, he quoted Rush lyrics ("glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity"), but then said it was off Hemispheres, when we all know it`s off Permanent Waves I`ll get my anorak and bugger off now

Well, he quoted Rush lyrics ("glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity"), but then said it was off Hemispheres, when we all know it`s off Permanent Waves I`ll get my anorak and bugger off now Well I remembered for once and watched the episode last night, it looks like it has potential not a "laugh out loud" a minute but it is interesting; will have to watch the re-runs me thinks. I thought when the Falcon escaped from his car boot that he was going to get his riffle out and shoot it?! I remember listening to 2112 when a mate played it in '77, I wasn't that impressed but years and years later I heard Tom Sawyer on the radio and it hooked me in, I bought the back catalogue like a man possessed! As for Nick's knowledge of the lyrics (very apt Spirit of Radio) - 'respect'! I am not as well-up on Rush but (ahem) other bands I'd be equally observant! Boatman equally embarrassing anorak!

I saw the episode where he miscredited 'The Spirit Of Radio' as being from 'Hemispheres' too!

The final episode had him looking round the home of a bloke who had died, and when he saw that the guy had Genesis's 'Trespass' and Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon ' in his record collection, he looked on the guy a lot more kindly than the 'lonely old man' he initially thought him to be. 'Time' from the Easy Dub All-Stars' 'Dub Side Of The Moon' was also played.
