WOW! Just got back from seeing this film and can I just say it was *amazing*
I'd seen the trailer when I saw Casino Royale on New Years Day, and thought "that looks really good, I wanna see it" - but often 5 min trailers are deceiving. This was wasn't. I was also a bit dubious because of Mel Gibson directing, and altho I've not really seen any of his-directed films, friends who had weren't over keen. I'm pleased to say this one is a winner (IMHO).
It kept me enthralled the whole way thru, even tho it was spoken in some ancient Mayan stylee language, subtitles throughout (ooh I felt very arty and Guardian reading ;D), the action was non-stop, very bloodthirsty and violent and gory, just the way I like it ;D, but with a good storyline too!
Don't wanna spoil it for those who may be thinking of going to see it, but the things the bloke ate raw right at the beginning made me glad I'd decided not to munch anything during the film ;D , and later on some guy getting his heart cut out and put on a brazier thing while he watched was erm.........interesting LOL
Great film (if you like that sort of thing!) Go and see it - but not for the faint hearted ;D
PS - Other trailers which looked good were Hannibal Rising, about the young Hannibal Lecter, some World War II spy thingy called Black Book, and a Sean Bean vigilante stylee film called Outlaw. I wanna see all of 'em. Orange Wednesday here I come!
