I had a blast Friday night was let down by poor sound quality but I enjoyed Eclipse, H.E.A.T and Treat Totally blown away by White Sister, they were THE band of the weekend for me. Pleasantly surprised by Romeo's Daughter, and enjoyed Airrace, The Poodles (could have done without the guitar solo and costume change IMHO) and Drive She Said. Only caught a bit of Crown of Thorns but liked what I heard.. Missed Honeymoon Suite as I needed a sit down and a cuppa back at the hotel before returning for FM. Huge, huge, huge thanks to Kieran (like the mullet) Dargan ;D and all the Firefest Team who made this such a great event for me! My thanks also to Chanel and White Sister! I love it when a plan comes together LOL Great to see Allee Martell, Steve Price, Lindsay, Janette, Alison, Dean, Woody, Eden, Tez, Debbie & Allen, Sam & Nigel, Claire and the gorgeous Spanish Steelheart fan who sang "Love Ain't Easy " to me , Eric Ragno, Steve Overland, the guys from White Sister, Chanel, Evelyn, Tony M, Sarah and Keith and everyone else I met! Let's do it all again next year

Great Weekend, and great to meet up with everyone ... back home resting now ...
Best band of the day for me was Romeo's Daughter, followed closely by FM, Crown Of Thorns & Honeymoon Suite.
Drive, She Said had a great setlist ... but it was poorly executed ... mainly due to abysmal sound, & numerous technical difficulties.
The Poodles not really my cup of tea ... but put on a good show ... shows promise for the future ... but for me they were 'out glamed' by Jean Beauvoir.
Airrace were good, very tight & polished, shows the warm up shows with Thunder really helped.
Missed White Sister ... not overly bothered by them myself ... but a few people I spoke with said they were as good as last year.
Heres to next year.
Cheers
Tez

I just got back too. I didn't really notice any sound problems on Friday - maybe it's where I was standing? I think Bad Habit were the band for me on Friday. Songs like Rowena were great, now that they had the full band behind them after Firefest 4! And one of the new songs, "I Don't Want You" was so good I had to buy the new album.
I don't think there was a weak spot for me on Saturday (apart from Drive She Said's unfortunate technical difficulties), and it was a toss up as to who I liked best: Romeo's Daughter, White Sister, or Honeymoon Suite (although I really enjoyed Airrace too!)
...Hmm, I'll probably go for Honeymoon Suite if pressed though! Stellar playing, and really professional,
Thanks to Kieran and Bruce and everyone else involved. It really is the highlight of the year, but the weekend's over way too soon!

Firstly......I want to thank Kieran and all the crew who make this event possible for us to attend!! It was great to meet friends old and new (not as in old...lol...you get my drift) Liz...thanks for your kind words Friday night(maybe the Merlot was talking ;D)...your a star!!! Band of the weekend for me.......H.E.A.T ...I absolutely love his voice!!!! Disappointment for me... Crown Of Thorns...these I looked most forward too on Saturdays bill.....and he just didn't hit half the notes....was really shocked on this one!! But all in all a delightful weekend in good company...... Hope to have my voice back sometime in the near future I must remember to try not to sing note for note....with people with high vocal ranges...lol..... Again thanks Kieran and gang....your all ace for keeping this genre alive!!!! S..x

Just walked through the door myself as well. I have to say that I enjoyed this Firefest more than either of the last two (Only made it to 3 to date). I think it was just because I really enjoyed almost every set I heard - especially on Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed Eclipse and HEAT on Friday (Treat just didn't do it for me I'm afraid). Saturday was just a delight - I was right on the barrier (as usual!!) and was pleasantly surprised by Airrace, really enjoyed the Poodles. Drive, She Said took a bit of getting used to but they grew on me, loved Romeo's daughter, was as impressed with White Sister as I was last year and was completely knocked out by Crown of Thorns. I've had "Faith" since summer 2007 and it has become one of my favourite albums. Would have liked more than a couple of songs from that album and was really disappointed when they went off after 45 minutes. I was sure they were scheduled for an hour and I think they had an encore planned but Tony came on with that bloody pole for the curtain and everyone just stopped and wandered off.
We legged it out as soon as CoT finished to get some food back at the hotel (included in the room rate) but the service was so slow that we didn't get back till after White Sister had finished. Then of course it was the obligatory snooze set from FM. I do try very hard but they just don't do it for me one little bit so we gave it 2 numbers and went to the pub. Wasn't disappointed at all - the first 6 acts made the whole day for me and I loved it.
Huge thanks to Kieran and all the crew. Great support from Steve at ARFM and you have 2 ticket sales waiting for next year already!!

A huge vote of thanks from me and Allee to everyone who ventured to Nottingham on either/both days. I know Kieran, Bruce and the gang thank you from the bottom of their hearts and...yes.. you know they will look to put on FF7.
I mets loads of faces I already knew and many I didn't....it was nice to see you all.
If anyone has any interesting photo's of the event we wouldn't mind them as we'd like to create a FF page on our site.
As some of you know I was well and truly caught out at one stage...not often I am lost for words!!!!! White Sister will always be special to me and I am desperately trying to get a camera to take a decent pic of their gift to ARfm...if only I can stop the flash from reflecting on the item....

Lovely to see everyone again - Alison, Liz & Nick, Sam & Nigel, Lindsay, Dean & his lovely missus, Cymru (who I don't think will ever forgive me for pronouncing it 'simroo' ;D), Tez, Pete, Graham, Mike & Tracey, Val from Italy (who went back to his hotel to get me some headache tablets, what a total sweetie! ), Sharon & Jay, Keith & Sarah, Lee & John, Dazz, Big Al, and of course SP I'm sure I've probably forgotten someone so apologies in advance! Nice to meet for the first time - Debbie & Allen, Claire, & of course Allee Martell Never got to see Woody cos there was so many people in the actual 'music room' no way was I gonna try and get thru that lot! We did attempt to find him at the end but he'd already gone OK gig itself: I miles preferred Friday if I'm honest. I like the socialising thing and being totally not good in crowds couldn't handle the amount of people in there (which I'm *sure* was more than 500!) so had a nice evening chatting in the bar and just popping me head around the corner on occasion. Treat were best IMHO. Saturday - didn't see the first two bands, wah. I heard that The Poodles were excellent. Drive She Said - don't really know them but thought they were very good, til their last song which I thought let them down, it sounded like some sort of thrash metal gone wrong thing! Romeo's Daughter - again don't really know them apart from that track SP always plays, but thought they were great. White Sister - only know them from last year but they were excellent. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances dictated I didn't make it back into Rock City to see the last 3 bands, but have been reliably informed by various peeps they were very good I have certain opinions about Rock City LOL but those who know me will have heard me voicing them over the weekend so I don't need to reiterate them here ;D

what a fantastic weekend , great to meet the ARFM crowd Steve, Allee Liz & Nick , Lyndsay,Janette and Alison.
Fri night Sound problems aside was a blast thought Eclipse were tremendous also Heat went down a storm and good to see a full house although the term popping outside for a breath of fresh air needs re-working, to step outside the trent was like stepping into a bush fire with all the dirty smokers massed around the door!!!
Saturday was stunning to say we were spoilt is an understatment every band put on a storming set ,
Airrace probably one of the strongests openers i've seen Keith Murrell 's voice is superb.
The Poodles suprised me pleasently so although as stated elswhere why the costume change when we could have had another song or two instead.
Drive She Said had a set jammed full of classics and warmed to the task though struggled with sound problems throughout.
Romeos Daughter missed all but the last 3 songs as Subways footlong Meatball called me but what i heard sounded very slick and they had a fantastic response from the crowd.
White Sister were as last year sublime, nice to hear a newish track or 2 and Steve's face when they got him up on stage was a picture, much deserved recognition mate.
Crown Of Thorns played a suprisingly heavy but funky set with Jean Beavouir in fine form complete with top hat great versions of Hike it Up , The Healer and Dying for Love .
Honeymoon Suite what can i say my band of the weekend totally blew me away with great stage presence and performance playing what amounted to a greatest hits set ,Johnnie Dee's voice was top notch and they seemed genuinly taken aback with the crowd response.
F.M. the darlings of the U.K melodic scene can do no wrong if anything a better performance than last time the new Guitarist gives them a much harder edge live more akin to the sound on the first 2 albums , excellent headliners.
Any one have any idea what Tony Marshall was up to with the Curtain ?? well strange kept expecting to see him drop it and produce a rabbit or saw some one in half.
Massive thanks to Kieran and all the crew, you put one on next year guys and us 12 welshies will be back that's a promise.

Hey Janette , sorry i didn't linger about after treat to say hello i was tired and i wasn't sure where anyone i knew was. Although my plan to have a quiet evening incognito was successful although i did manage to get a chance to speak to both Steve and Liz (albeit briefly) if i go next year I'll go earlier so i get proper chance to speak to people and maybe have a beer with a few peeps pre-show!
Janette, i know a lot of people struggle with the lack of seating for an all day gig and its a real shame if people have to leave early because of discomfort and pain. If there's enough voices demanding a few seats maybe Rock City will crumble to the pressure......i wouldn't hold your breath like.....but people wanna enjoy there (expensive) weekends and surely a few chairs scattered about ain't an impossibility? shame you missed Crown Of Thorns - fantastic band!
