Opening night of the current phase of the tour at the Carling Academy, Birmingham, last night was magnificent! The set consisted of a good mixture of songs with the emphasis on the new album, of course, but included several from the past albeit updated to the new Industrial sound style. The light show enhanced the sound which, although not "perfect" (vocal mike feedback on occasion), was vibrant and loud! Gary Numan was dark; moody and yet at his charismatic best! If you get the chance to catch the tour in your area I recommend it. I should confess that as a lass with orgins in deepest darkest Dorset (ie the middle of rural nowhere) I am only a fairly recent convert to live shows (unless you count Barn Dances!) so perhaps my enthusiasm is misplaced but it seems to me that to see a band/artist live is to really "hear/feel" music.
