Forgot to do a little gig review-ette on this one.........I'm sure I'm not the only Who fan on here! (am I? LOL)
Dunno how many bands were on, the first band I saw were The Casbah Club who I *really* liked. Featuring Bruce Foxton from The Jam, Simon Townshend (Pete's younger bro), some dude from Big Country (used to like them back in the day), and a drummer person.......... very good! Simon Townshend's voice sounds just like his brother's - really similar. Bruce Foxton still has all the same moves, one song fooled everyone, he started playing the bass line from 'Start' and everyone thought they were gonna do a cover of it, but it turned into a completely different song but still with the same bass line. Very clever. Anyhoo, I was impressed!
After not too long a wait The Who came on and started with 'Who Are You'. The crowd went fairly mad ;D I was surprised at the amount of younger peeps in the audience, as last time I saw The Who in December 99 at Shepherds Bush, the audience was virtually completely made up of old gits! ;D I was a youngster at that gig! Can't Explain was next, they did a few songs from their forthcoming album, Drowned from Quadrophenia, a few from Tommy, a fair few I didn't know, the awesome Baba O'Reilly (I love that!), and my fave ever Who song Behind Blue Eyes. Won't Get Fooled again was just brilliant. Zak Starkey is just the amazing drummer! I've seen him a few times with them but this was the best I've seen him. Simon Townshend was onstage playing guitart/doing backing vocals the whole time too, he must've been knackered after being the support band too!
All in all a great night And even better, only 6 miles from my house, makes a change from travelling all over the bloody country (and beyond) to see bands ;D
