Having seen some of the comments on the What You Listening To thread just thought I`d open this one up... I`ve only seen Danger Danger with Ted as the charismatic "lets have a party" front man...but I have Cockroach and think Paul`s diction (leave it!) is better how bout the rest of ya...

Having had the pleasure of seeing both singers perform with Danger Danger, I'd say this.............
Ted Poley - Great frontman with lot's of energy and a smile the size of the Mersey. Just not the best live voice I've ever heard.
Paul Laine - The consumate performer. Not the best stage presence, but boy can this man belt out a song or 2 live. Not a bad guitarist either.
PL get's my vote everytime. Cockroach with PL is far superior to the TP version in my opinion.

For me it is Ted every time. As much as i like Paul Laine's solo material (i'm still mourning the loss of my mint vinyl copy of Stick It In Your Ear) his vocal style didn't suit D2. Ted is a singer and Paul Laine tends to be more of a screamer. Teds voice is more distinctive with his higher range, and when you hear it you instantly know it's Ted Poley singing. Cockroach followed on from the classic Screw It perfectly with Ted on vocals, it's also one of,if not, THE finest examples of this genre you are likely to hear. When Paul Laine joined they should have changed their name and started afresh, as he basically ended up fronting a D2 cover band. This was evident when they played live, as 95% of the songs where from the first 3 D2 albums, Danger Danger , Screw It and Cockroach. The fans only wanted to hear Ted Poley era material. So for me it's Ted Poley everytime, awesome voice, the mans a star.

Paul Laine's vocals are some of the most emotive I've heard in a long time. And the guy's range is just awesome. If anyone's the screamer, then it's Ted, in my opinion of course
