I know Strangefish are an album band but it would be great if they could release a 3 track single CD that could be played on all the radio stations, featuring songs like Take A Holiday and some other tracks, just to show that even album bands can still create compact punchy tunes that commercial DJs wouldn't be scared of. That way it might get to the ears of some who might not otherwise hear it. It worked quite well for bands like Bluehorses, Soliloquy and Magenta. On the new album Paul, are there any tracks that fit this format, or could they do one as a project between albums maybe!? Well, I shall find out when I listen in! They say that 2006 is the year when imaginative and quailty-rock album music is back in vogue - but they will invent a new genre title as is the way of things. I remain cynical, however if more album bands can get some compact tracks out there to hook the potential punters in whilst there is supposed to be a buzz (however temporary) for this type of music again, even in the mainstream press/media! It might then grow the awareness for the band and likewise the quaility music radio stations like ARfm. Punters would visit the bands' websites and discover who the radio stations are that aren't afraid to play the proper album rock tracks. Then again, maybe I need to Take A Holiday.

F A N T A S T I C album launch gig at Rotherham! Fortune Teller the new Strangefish album is a regular in my CD tray! The band have just blossomed since I first saw them. Just shows you what radio stations like ARfm and venues that put unsigned acts on can do, without this support bands like Strangefish would never have evolved into such a fine act. They are ready to follow in the footsteps of Mostly Autumn me thinks. Thanks to the tea lady for 'officially' introducing me to Steve Taylor although having been supporting them since their first ever Rotherham gig, I don't normally chat to bands after gigs as there are ususally lots of fellow music lovers to catch up with! What a great band they are and so approachable. Byeeeeeeeee
