I thought of Boatman and Narnialady when I heard an arrangement (by David Arnold) of one of the Satie pieces the Hackett brothers recorded in this movie! There was another of the pieces on 'Grow Your Own Veg' the same week.
Sadly, the tune was the best bit about this incredibly worthy movie. Peter O'Toole came across as a dirty old man molesting the niece of Leslie Phillips' character, and when Corinne Bailey Rae's 'Put Your Records On' came on I thought, 'right, mate, 'Sketches Of Satie' it is then!' ;D

Hi Pickle Yes a good analogy there! When I watch "Grow Your Own Vegetables", it is for those surreal moments of watching a close up of a snail sliding across the garden path with Entangled by Genesis playing in the background. Was it my imagination or was the snail whistling along to the tune? You know, like Brian from The Magic Round-A-Bout perhaps?. Oh, wait now, it might have been Steph' whistling now I think back. Anyway wasn't it fun watching those naughty caterpillars munching cabbage leaves, as Led Zep music played in the background? (little rascals) Pardon? No I mean the caterpillars not Led Zep! This the kind of roots music I like!

A viewer on BBC Teletext said this week's Grow Your Own Veg just had Carol Klein and her daughter oohing and aahing over vegetables they were eating, and they hoped Harry Hill might spoof this the way he did Ray Mears' programme!

I think she was definitely inspired by Meg Ryan in terms of appreciating the taste of food!

That would explain Brian and his mates behaviour! Last night she was discussing her melons I think....

It was your hallucinations that were worrying me more actually! LOL Alison, if you watch Grow Your Own Veg you'd see that these descriptions are not as far-fetched as they sound.... okay, maybe the whistling snail was - my little mistake, a kind of economy surround-sound thing you know, but the rest is pretty accurate. I mean last night she was also complimenting a chap on his pumpkins.... you ask Pickle!

I've also seen it in Friday's Mirror that 'Grow Your Own Veg' got bigger viewing figures than Celebrity Big Brother! Mind you, anything would after the recent idiocy on CBB. There was a misheard lyric about a marrow in the Feb 07 issue of Classic Rock and I can't remember what it was - I know it was the issue with the Rock Follies bit in which mentioned a recording Judas Priest did with Stock Aitken and Watermelon, I mean Waterman. It wasn't a remake of that other misheard favourite, 'Raking The Lawn'!
