Synopsis
The Walker (15)
Director: Paul Schrader Origin: United Kingdom, United States Year: 2007 Duration: 108 Starring: Woody Harrelson, Kristin Thomas
With THE WALKER, Schrader updates the themes and tropes first explored in his controversial erotic thriller AMERICAN GIGOLO. Harrelson stars as Carter Page III, an escort for middle-aged women in the upper-crust circles of Washington. Among his regular clients, Carter is closest to a politico’s wife, Lynn Lockner (Scott Thomas), who also has a lover, the lobbyist Robbie Kononsberg. When Kononsberg is murdered and Lynn discovers his body at his condo, Carter attempts to protect Lynn and her husband from media intrusion by informing the police that it was he who discovered the body. Finding himself a suspect, Carter decides to investigate the crime, and uncovers a deep, dark well of scandal and intrigue. This is a biting and intelligent political thriller that finds Schrader back on very top form.
Well it *read* like it was gonna be a really good interesting film. I thought it would be, Woody Harrelson, and also Lauren Bacall & Willem Dafoe were in it........BUT I found it rather slow & laborious TBH, quite disappointing. Some of it was confusing, but maybe that's cos I fell asleep twice during the film ;D ;D I also found the heavy southern drawl accents quite hard to understand, had to concentrate really hard, that probably exhausted my brain and that's why I fell asleep! ;D
Not one of the better films I've seen this year........
