I Am Legend Cert: 15 Contains strong violence Runtime: 1 hour 40 mins “My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. If there is anybody out there…anybody. Please. You are not alone.” Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague—The Infected—lurk in the shadows…watching Neville’s every move…waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered…and quickly running out of time. Genre: Action / Adventure Starring: Will Smith, Paradox Pollack, Salli Richardson Directed by: Francis Lawrence looks good, hope its a hundred times better than Omega Man (70's version of the book with Charlton Heston) trailer looks pant wettingly super.... www.showcasecinemas.co.uk/content/flash_trailer/index.php?tFn=F3_QT_I_Am_Legend_500.mov&refer=&speed=&size=Woody

As with most movies......."Not as good as the book"
1) Why did they change the population from undead vampires to people with a virus?
2) The ending in the book was better (but a bit of a downer).
3) One of the most emotional bits in the book was when, after being totally alone for a few years, he found the dog. However, the mutt was with him from the beginning in the movie.
However...... The scenes at sunset when he was still trapped outdoors were good, and the blowing up of the bridges to try and contain the virus (which wasn't in the book) were well done.

I've not read the book, but i thought they were Zombies who eat your brains? They may have changed it to people with a virus in order to make it curable hence allowing a Hollywood ending (where everyone lives happily ever after!). From what you've said I'm presuming this does indeed have the Hollywood ending (It all turned out all right in the finish!). As far as the little i know Death is currently incurable, although i believe someone in some laboratory is working on this right now! Although I'm saving to be chyrogenically frozen, but I'm going to insist they don't put me by Walt Disney or Michael "I'm just drinking Jesus Juice" Jackson!
I'm still looking forward to seeing this at some point, although the little feed back I'm getting is that its a big pile of stinky doggie do do! So I'm not expecting it to be a masterpiece!

Woody It's certainly not a masterpiece, mate. It's a good movie, worth seeing but, don't expect too much. Way to many unanswered questions in the movie!

It is a shame when the core parts of a book are altered in the making of a film. They could have had a Pink Floyd soundtrack with: Is There Anybody Out There? Richard Matheson was a great author, I also enjoy the stories written by Asimov and Philip K Dick. Some Sci Fi films I have enjoyed are: AI I Robot Logan's Run Brain Storm Dead Zone (and the excellent spin-off series) IT RollerBall Blade Runner Hearts In Atlantis The Langoliers Be great if they made some of Michael Marshall Smith's novels into films.....
