MagicFolk by Magic Folk On this self-titled debut album, my musical compass glided between the musical shores of Iona via the atmospheric realms of Mermaid Kiss. A compelling mix of female vocals, with plenty of acoustic and electric guitar, keyboards and flute comprise the core ingredients to the songs written by founder members Michelle Glover (lead vocals, acoustic guitar)and Ben Glover (bass, additional keys). www.magicfolk.co.uk/audio.htmwww.magicfolk.co.uk/band.htmwww.myspace.com/magicfolk

Ah, yes, this is a band introduced to me by my wife. She's quite good friends with Michelle. I do like what they do. I think they perhaps have a bit more edge than Iona and Mermaid Kiss, though I love both of those bands.

The lyrical style reminds me of Rebsie's LeafBlower song, especially the clever word-play and the unexpected humour - often wry.
