Yes, after years of Lee demanding we alter our passports and play a show down south, Tara's Secret are booked on the Christchurch Regatta Festival, somewhere near Bournemouth - Christ, that's almost in France, do they still have 240v electricity ? We're on the Saturday bill and due onstage around 6pm (more details soon). Station Club are on a couple of slots before us and should interest ARfm fans as they have written songs for Khymera and House of Lords. Headliners for the day are Dr & The Medics and we have let the Sweet tribute band move above us on the bill so that all the original music bands play one after each other and also so that we might avoid having to watch Johnny Secret dancing to Spirit In the Sky - its not a pleasant sight. Other live shows so far this year include19 OCT - Burton on Trent - The Roebuck 24 OCT - Nottingham - The Maze (yes its THAT weekend) 6 DEC - Nuneaton - Queens Hall - Xmas RockStock with Dante Fox, Tara's Secet, 7 Dayz, Adrian Marx and a couple of special guests 12 DEC - Dudley JBs - supporting Danny Vaughn (acoustic) New songs Natural High & Homeland (recorded May 2008) are now uploaded at both www.taras-secret.com and www.myspace.com/tarassecret and are available for download at www.melodicdownloads.comWe hope you like them. There's also a cracking live review from our show at Sheffield last week on our My Space and loads of new photos of Johnny Secret not dancing to Spirit In The Sky !! Seems there is also a growing number of calls for us to play in Hull again, which we'd love to do - and anywhere else.

Sorry Steve, still getting to grips with it all, y'know, the excitement etc !! Dorset is hardly Kent, but for us lot, its a big step travelling "south of Watford." Our Nuneaton gig must be a similar distance for you ??
Gig date is 16th August
Why did I post this on the Firefest thread ?

Hey Woodster
We did play in Walsall once and I had to translate all Johnny's intros into yamyam - with me having been born in Great Barr, but I was lucky to escape to the Staffordshire countryside at the age of 2. I recall we "ployed luts uv sungs" that night.
I think we played so loud that the pub (the Landlord had the volume knob and was part deaf) was still shaking a week later and fell down - well that's our take on the clearance work for the Walsall north bypass !! If you take a look at the Sheffield gig pics on our My Space, we seem to have had a similar effect on the buildings of Sheffield too. Headline "TARA'S SECRET BRING THE HOUSE DOWN." I like that !!
So where can original melodic rock bands play in Walsall ? We did Pete Boot's "Head Full Of Rock" in Willenhall 3 years back which was good fun, but that tribute place in Cannock was embarrassing. Over to you Woodster, go get your yellow pages out !!

Dunno if the shed is used as a venue anymore shaggy..... wasn't it the Hatherton Arms you played in Walsall? i was looking through the TS gig history a few months back before the website got a make over and noticed that you'd played there.... ahh Great Barr the posh part of Walsall well it is practically Brum hahaha Yeah the Pete Boot festival is at Gilberts in Willenhall, i always thought it was a Nightclub, Think it does a bit of everything though, a Friend is having her after-wedding do there next week! The Wharf bar in Walsall would be ideal, they do have original bands but from all my digging its mostly Indie bands, so dunno if they'd give a band like TS a chance.....but the live scene in Walsall is dead....... I'll get me yellow pages out....... i'll dust of my sawn off....... & i'll start at the A's....... Dunno if the asylum in Brum would give ya's a go........especially with it been owned by a Melodic Rock guy...... Woody

Ah yes Woody thanks for reminding me, the jolly Hatherton Arms in Walsall, the type of place where they find snoring goblins under the tables in the morning, I could swear some of those locals had 3 eyes !!
Its not only the live bands scene that's knackered in Walsall, the whole place needs a make over, I've never seen so many roadworks, so maybe that's what they are up to ?

Yeah, Walsall is very multicultural and their is a large orange cone community here!!!!!
It's all meant to be regeneration! the arbo island which is been gotten rid of, looks a mess at the moment.....but you know those orange cones have family's to feed! Although i have to admit sometimes round here it feels like its an old excuse to gets the cones out! Some gasworks goin around round me are causing chaos......
although i wish they'd hurry up and get the "wharf" project up and done!

Woody, yes, Walsall is the only place they could build an new Art gallery that is already the ugliest, most faceless building in the town - and we're hardly talking Stratford-on-Avon in the first place !! I was trying to work out which race you were referring to with the Orange Tops (Hari-Krishnas ??) but then it clicked - bollards !!
Hi Dean - thanks for your persistance, its an honour !! I checked out a few places in South Wales online, the main one you suggested was closing down. I still haven't come up with anywhere that is used to original classic rock bands that pays anything like the minimum travelling costs we'd incur, let alone anything for playing our asses off for 2 hours - its a whole day there-gig-return. There seems to be a few tribute venues that have a regular crowd and won't book original music, but like everywhere, the pub scene has very little money available and anything but a local band with a guaranteed local mates crowd is a big risk for people to book. Any more suggestions are most welcome, thanks.

W-hey Lee, we actually get to strut our stuff for you and your Mrs and maybe even that brother of yours. Look forward to it, mate. As you're in the area, have you tried getting a gig at Mr Kypps in Poole? I'm not sure whether I've mentioned the venue to you before, if I have, I apologise.
