Before i comment on the bands themselves i have to say what a great sight it was to see the cia packed to the rafters for what amounts to a rerun of the 80,s, glory years 20 minute queues at the bar and at least 7-8,000 welsh rocker,s going for it hell for leather , on the down side some of the sights you see when you havn,t got your gun is stunning not seen so many mingers in one place since a stag do in blackpool years ago and i must have spoted about 10 women sporting mullets disturbing:woot:anyway i digress,
thunder are a great warm up act for the main course getting the crowd dancing and singing although they did seem to focus on the more softer poptastic tunes to please the leppard crowd me thinks rather than crank out more rockers although they did play dirty love and an excellent version of love walked in.
Whitesnake were fantastic i was quite apprehensive about seeing the old trouser snake again as last time out i found them terrible but this time around the old thrust is back with a vengeance, shirt undone to the navel and mike stand twirling around like the old days the addition of 4 tracks off the new album has injected coverdale with new enthusiasm and although he screeched abit on the high notes on a whole it was Mr Coverdales best vocal performance in a long time and when aint no love rang out the welsh choir were in full voice.I was on a high at the end of Whitesnakes set,but then Leppard came on.
They have some great songs, but they just don't do it in a live environment there seems very little energy and passion coming off the stage , and joe Elliot,s voice is a let down the high point for me had to be bringing on the heartbreak and rock of ages .
All in all a fantastic nights 80,s stye hair metal extravagance even if a pint of strongbow was £3.70:oops:
