Hi all, I'll be standing in for Mr Ashley Franklin this coming Sunday (20th July) between 12 and 2pm when I'll be playing some Spock's Beard, Steve Hackett, Jade Warrior, Cardiacs, Steeleye Span, Van Der Graaf Generator and much, much more. Join me for Sunday lunch if you can. Don't worry, there's no dress code, though nakedness is not actively encouraged... Best wishes, Eppy

Good to hear Magazine, I remember they were a rare-gem in the days when punk-rock hype and fashion dominated the scene. Excellent keyboards with a hint of menace!

Interesting snipett about the Cardiacs borrowing IQ's mellotron, never knew that! www.cardiacs.com/dates/www.myspace.com/cardiacsThough the merch-store is temporarily closed. Perhaps they will have some on their merch-desk when they tour....

I'm a bit too young to remember them first time around. Sorry. But I was amazed when I first heard them: an almost perfect meshing of punk and prog styles. I can't believe they're not more popular amongst prog fans actually, such is their potential crossover appeal.

I think this means the tour and new album are on hold until Tim has fully recovered. I didn't know the merch-store was temporarily closed – my fault for not checking!

Surprises me as well, perhaps they get lumped in as punk and therefore accidentally overlooked by those scanning through looking for something imaginative.

Ah, well, it makes it all the more exciting when you discover a band like this for the first time.

Right, I'll amend my planned gigs' list - thanks. It was to be expected after your news on the show today; at least that takes the pressure off Tim (Smith) and the band, so he can now concentrate his energies fully upon his recovery. All the best to him and his loved ones...

Weren't The Cardiacs once known as Cardiac Arrest? Tim Smith used to go to my best mate's school, and we used to hang round with Colvin Mayers (one of the original members - keyboardist, sadly no longer with us) and his twin bro Dave, me and Sal used to go to the youth club with them when we were about 12 or 13 ;D It was Colvin (or Max as he used to call himself later on) who first got me into Blondie - we used to get the train to work together and he said he had an album he *had* to lend me - it was Plastic Letters - I never looked back Hope Tim is gonna be ok........he was a large lad when we were all in our teens but dunno what he's like know - quite scary someone a similar age being ill like that
