Want to listen to ARfm anywhere in the house?
Thanks to Richard and Amanda we can tell you Maplin are currently selling the Morphy-Richards Wi-Fi Internet Radio for only £49.99.
We checked one today, got the store to demo it, and Maplins (Eastbourne) we so impressed with ARfm they had it on in the store all afternoon.
It takes a few seconds to connect to a wireless network but once it does you are up and running. It uses the Reciva database to list all the available stations (scroll down to ARfm and click Select) and there we are.
It has a "line out" socket so you can connect to your Hi-Fi (just in case you want more volume) and a headphone socket as well.
Considering the "brand" the sound from the unit in standalone mode is very reasonable.
Overall - pretty good value for money

Fantastic news!
Next time you are in Maplins/Comet/the equivalent, be sure to change the demo models to ARfm. The people that have to endure the in-store radio channels will thank you for it!

It is good, no probs finding ARfm,we were dubious about the name but it is a great little piece of kit.We were up till 2 in the morning listening to Hairball John on Sat night and then woke up to the Greasy Spoon on Sunday,it is really good for having as a clock radio. There is some really good stuff in Maplins too.

The choice of stations is phenomenal. Unlike short wave (for those of you who can remember it) crystal clear digital sound and thousands of radio stations around the world to listen to. Fancy Classic FM? Try the Melbourne, Australia version. Crackle Free. Fancy Stephen King's WKIT station in Bangor, Maine USA? 5 hours in front, but you can be part of it.
I have mine tuned into ARfm during live broadcast particularly as despite a thirty second delay, it's the only way I can check if we're still on air from the N London Studio. Very handy.
Get internet radio.

Too right Paul! I got the Freecom MusicPal from Amazon as an internet radio/ alarm clock. Liked the fact it had output to a hi-fi and external speakers, so I've got some bigger stereo speakers connected to it on my bedside cabinet, and there's no problems with it waking me up now!

We should have been on commission with this one LOL!!!!! It opens up the listening time we were listening to Paul's repeat from Sat whilst we were getting ready for work at lunchtime, normally it would have been radio Devon.I wonder if they will ever manage to do a car version.

We should have been on commission with this one LOL!!!!! ARfm should have done a deal with Maplin! It will happen. In fact, one of the car manufacturers is already trying out a system that connects to the net whilst on the move. At the moment, of course, it uses the Mobile Networks which is expensive but I am sure as time goes on it will become cheaper, and more universal.
