Thought I'd let you know about a new band I've seen a couple of times and heard on ArFM - Angel House. I last saw them supporting Blue Oyster Cult and thought they were excellent. Proper old school 80's heavy metal with a great singer. I bought their album World on Fire and superb it is too - out of the ten tracks, 8 are really great. They only let themselves down on the 2 ballads, but thats just my opinion - I like the rockier stuff better. Mask and the title track are 2 songs that would not be out of place on an album by a much bigger band, as they are both absolute belters. Check them out for yourseleves, but I think they are one of the best new rock bands I have seen in years. www.myspace.com/angelhouserockTheres even a free download on there. Cheers.

I believe Angel House have been added to the Rock of Ages festival line up on the same day as Burn.....

Indeed they have Woody - how did you find out so fast? They are playing the Saturday. Having seen them live 2 things spring to mind - 1. They are the ideal band to open up the festival and will really go for it. 2. I wouldn't want to be in the band that has to follow them! If anybody out there is going to Rock of Ages, get there early, don't miss Angel House.

I liked 'World On Fire' it had a bit of a Budgie feel guitar-wise.

Funny you should say that boatman, cos they occasionally play In For The Kill live!

Not bad at all. Really like the riff in the track MASK.

Funny you should say that boatman, cos they occasionally play In For The Kill live! I had heard they throw in the odd cover, they would certainly be good at the Budgie stuff! I was slso reminded of those great Budgie-styled power-riffs not only on the title track but on Knowledge and Victim #13 which also had a hint of Sabbath. Weapons For Self-Expression starts like a nice acoustic-ballad before rocking off and sounded like there was some Hammond really low in the mix? Revolution had hints at Queensryche too! Not a bad start for a debut, they could really take off especially if they continue to explore and expand their guitar sound, maybe get some more effect pedals or a guitar synth.
