It's cliched, tongue-in-cheek, corny and absolutely brilliant! It's a fun and very uplifting film, shot in a beautiful location. It's also quite moving in parts, especially from a Mum/daughter point of view.
The four of us (My other half and two daugthers aged 18 and 11) went to see this yesterday and we all loved it. ;D

Not seen it yet but my friends who have keep telling me I have to! ;D Even tho they know it's prob not really my thang, they seem to think I'll enjoy it! I may go, but I wanna see other films first, like the new X Files movie! Alison - I believe it was shot in Skiathos, which is where I went on hols in 2004 and back again in 2005 - you're correct, it is a beautiful island

Dean Keep fighting!!! this film isn't for anyone with testicles........my mate decided to impress his missus by watching this with her (but why oh why when i was there!).......yeah it was a pirate........i was F***** suicidal after the opening 10 seconds.......now don't get me wrong ladies , i do watch sentimental / romantic films and enjoy them, but this is a real chick flick.........and a totally insane one at that! although my mate half way through the second song said to me and his missus is this a musical, i was frothing at the mouth and smacking anything i could lay my hands on across my head in the vain hope of knocking myself out, so i replied with something like NO Shit & i freaking hate abba and its allllllll abba arggghhhhhh..........................I think this film was designed for women to torture their partners / Husbands with!
If your a woman and like abba, you'll love this!!!! but if not you will be pleading to every god imaginable within 10 minutes of this film starting to make your head explode!!!!!

My sister and niece have been to see this, and though my niece enjoyed it, my sister couldn't take Julie Walters's constant gurning! Piers Brosnan, reportedly, isn't going to give Patrick Lundstrom sleepless nights with his lack of vocal talent! Siobhan McCarty, who was in the original stage show, also sang 'Sophia's Song' on the Nick Magnus 'Hexameron' CD.

When my mum and I eventually saw it, I was still upset over other problems (see Richard Wright thread). I must be a hermaphrodite, because I couldn't cry at the movie at all.
I know I wanted to see How To Lose Friends & Alienate People a lot more, and The Rocker that was also trailed (the man who's the head of the news station in Back To You is in it).

Woody LOL Don't be so negative! ;D I have seen it twice and I know someone who has seen it over 10 times! ;D Was it a bloke? A colleague of mine takes his wife to a Westlife concert once a year, as penance for her allowing him to go to football matches every Saturday and he was a nervous- wreck before the gig and didn't speak much for days afterwards, with flash-backs on a par with Vietnam Veterans... poor devil.....

I saw it 4 times in theatres and 2 times @ DVD now. It's a shame I didn't go to see sing-a-long version on theatres... ;D Never seen a movie more than one time on theatres before Mamma Mia!
