With the snowfall we had here, i was starting to panic that the gig was gonna get cancelled.......... thankfully it wasn't as bad as it seemed!
I don't normally do acoustic gigs, so this was my first time seeing Kip........i'd heard some good reports so i thought it was worth checking it out.....turnout wasn't great, although i have to admit i wasn't expecting many....
The support guy was really good extremely talented....not the sort of thing i would normally listen to but well worth checking out if you like acoustic stuff......
Kip's set was a well balanced selection of Winger favourites and solo stuff, personally the Winger stuff went down best with me as i find some of Kip's solo work an acquired taste......."Headed For A Heartbreak" , "Miles Away " & "Rainbow In The Rose" all went down really with me , he also played (amongst others) "Can't Get Enuff" , "Easy Come Easy Go" , "Seventeen" , "Madeline" , "Down Incognito" , "Lucky One" , and finished with "Blue Suede Shoes".....
I think it takes a lot of talent to make a show like this entertaining and Kip's talent shone tonight......His voice and guitar playing was excellent....He had some great banter with the crowd and i found him witty and entertaining...... which gave the show a really cool atmosphere , he even took a few requests.....given the small crowd he even got some sing-along's going on!!!!.......Not a balls to the wall rock show but a great evening of laid back quality tunes.........
I believe JB's was the first stop on this UK tour........so if you can go check him out ........you won't be disappointed!
