From what I've heard so far, it's utter drivel

OK so, i've been a fan since 91 i would say, right around the time the Illusions came out as an impressionable 7 year old at the time, and have been a fan ever since...Buuuuuuut i'm by no means a fanboy, so, lets see...
Having listened to the album, from a song writers perspective (if any of you are nice enough to consider me that hehe) its actually a good portrait of a guy thats reinvented himself pretty successfully (i'm not saying for the good) because it really does sound NOTHING like Old Guns.
That being said...Most bands strive to find an identity...Who the hell becomes Guns N Roses - Then wishes they weren't?!?! That band had the ability to be timeless, so Axl decides to release a solo record with the Guns N' Roses name just to get one over the old band.
Which moves me to my next point, this whole album seems like one big rant about what happened 15 years ago, its a bit sad. Axl Rose has gone emo...and THAT my friends, makes ME want to cry.
However, on the plus side there is Buckethead, who really is great, at least live.
Bottom line, I listen to the album, and have done constantly all week, just out of awe for the fact that it really is being released, but if it wasn't Axl...i probably wouldnt listen to it...as Steve said, No hooks...at all, and i love me a good hook.

Absolutely immense album , played this nonstop all week at home, in the car, in the bath :-), i just can`t stop playing it , songwriting at it`s best in my opinion, never been much of a fan of Axl`s vocal style, but make no mistake this is one hell of an album & i hear hooks all over the place , what about Scraped for a start , "Don`t you try to stop us now, I just won`t let you" This album is a real grower, it just gets better & better with each play, if it were a plant it would be Ivy, or Japanese Knotweed, that stuff grows like f**k
I LOVE IT
