Time for some fun Seems like there is a plethora of songs out there that sound like other bands/songs to me, so I though I'd start a thread with a few I've heard recently on ARFM. Michael Bormann - Take Me Higher/Def Leppard - Women Y&T - Contagious/Bon Jovi - You give love a bad name 7th Heaven - Better This Way/Insert Def Leppard song here ;D Lec Zorn - Second Chance/Genesis - ABACAB I'll try and add more as I hear them, I know Jorn Lande has several

Please note, I didn't use the term "rip-off", just "sounds like". I dig that Lec Zorn tune but damned if I can't help singing ABACAB over it everytime it comes on This was meant to be light hearted not derogatory (can you walk that line Steve ;D) That being said, feel free to let me know what Bombay Black songs sound like other stuff as well ;D

Ok, I'll take the plunge, 'Journey's Friend' from the album "The Garden" by Unitopia has a hint of 'Supper's Ready', but I think that might just be deliberate! Frost*'s megga epic "Milliontown" once again lends itself to a quick rendition of "In the Cage"... Ummm is there a theme developing here... I'll get me coat! ;D Paul B

Marillion's 'Grendel' has a bleedin' obvious nick from the Apocalypse In 9/8 section of Genesis's 'Supper's Ready'!
The 'I don't think so' in Fish's 'Brother 52' is copped from David Essex's 'Gonna Make You A Star'.
Ayreon ripped off the Bonzo Dog Band's 'Sport - The Odd Boy' for the intro of 'Charm Of The Seer'; the 'let's go back to your childhood-childhood-childhood...' bit was also used by Mick Wall on Planet Rock.

'F.U.' in Spock's Beard's 'The Water' is a blatant steal from Harry Nilsson's 'You're Breaking My Heart' on Son Of Schmillson; I also think the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band's remaining members need royalties on 'Thoughts', because the 'I am two separate gorillas' bit is stolen from Viv Stanshall's spoken narration at the end of 'Mr. Apollo', where he says 'Once I was a four stone apology...now I am two separate gorillas!'

My Sharona by The Knack sounds like Never Miss A Beat by The Kaiser Chiefs. In fact My Sharona by The Knack sounds like most Brit Pop stuff by bands with ridiculous names like The Pigeon Detectives and The Hoosiers

Danger Danger - I Still Think About You Starts off sounding like Every Rose Has it's Thorn by Poison and turns into Sometimes She Cries by Warrant. ;D It's funny because I listen to the station at a a fairly low volume while at work all day, you get a totally different prospective on what's playing when you can't quite hear the song from across the room. It's like, "is that Poison? wait...no Warrant" and you walk over to the computer and it's like "Danger Danger? WTF!" LOL ;D
