Below is an extract from a letter we have received from John. Our thoughts are with him and his family at this tough time.
---------------------
Dear Friends, It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that The Hairball John Radio Show will be on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time. Most of you have been with us for many years and no doubt remember that my wife successfully battled cancer two years ago. This past week she was diagnosed with cancer again and I have all the confidence in the world that she will beat it ... again. But the situation is a little more severe this time and with my daughter now being 5 and active in extracurricular activities I feel it is important that my full focus be on my role as a father, husband and provider. Even though normal weekly shows are being suspended, The Acid Chimp and I plan on trying to do a "final" show within the next week or two. How ironic that I step away from the mic exactly 6 years to the day that the show saw it's debut on FM. I have an immense amount of appreciation for you, as well out our incredible listener base and it is important to me that we do a show that allows me to express that appreciation.
We sincerely appreciate all your support over the years and value the contacts and friendships we have developed. Rock On, "Hairball" John

Words can't express how difficult Hairball John's situation is.
My recent experience of U.S. Medical Care is it is second to none, insurance really kicks in for top rate care. If there is a problem, rest assured they'll find it. They are and will continue to care to the best of their ability. With the recent failings in NHS, including the joke promotion of my local hospital to 'University' status and the mis-diagnosis of my Dad, I know where my loyalties lie.
Our love and support to Hairball John's wfe, to John himself and the family and we'll be here to support him when he feels the time is right to return.

A message from John ---------------------------
My wife and I are very humbled by the outpouring of well wishes that we have received. As cliche as it may sound, the words of encouragement and support have given us an immense amount of strength and a positive outlook. I look forward to eventually returning to the show and until we connect again I wish you happiness and good health. Yours in rock. "Hairball" John
