I'm sick and tired of U2, Morrissey, Sugababes and the like (even Annie Lennox!) trying to "rock it up".
Death to false metal! I'm off to spin some Manowar.

Sorry but I like U2 Altho not seen 'em live for over 22 years LOL I like the music, but Bono's droning on about bloody politics and the like bores me stupid so I'd rather save the vastly inflated ticket price and listen to me CDs

Sorry but I like U2 Yep, have to agree with Janette on this one. Can't say their style has changed much over the years, apart from the (in)famous 'Zoo' period. Early stuff is the best IMHO, tho! Paul B

Morrissey & the Sugarbabes and the like (even Annie Lennox!) trying to "rock it up". Our mission statement on the home page doesn't stretch that far. But U2 started off as a punk outfit (I'm not going into the privileged education thing and I know Bono p***ses a lot of people off for being a self appointed ambassador of human catastrophes but, they are a rock, not metal band and they fill stadiums and shift tons of albums and downloads worldwide. Tens of millions of people can't be wrong surely.

Now, now! It wasn't my intention to start a U2 bashing/defending thread - that would be too easy (this thread being a case in point!). Few bands split opinion like those poseurs (oops).
My point is that the artists listed in my initial message would do better to leave the "rocking it up" to the experts and do what they do best themselves. I can appreciate, even enjoy, the best of U2 (gag) and Morrissey for example, but their worst material is produced when they insist on trying to RAWK!

Hey don't worry... debate is good.. .this ain't Melodic Rock.com ya know!! ;D Maybe if the list didn't have U2 at the head it might not have sparked the debate!! U2 have always had that underlying 'rock' element, (although it was probably more punk), but understand where you're coming from especially with the Sugarbabes and co...(Could spill some beans about a certain very good guitarist who used to work for them!) Any keep rockin' & keep smilin n' postin' Paul B
