PAUL SAMSON was the leader and founder of the UK heavy rock band SAMSON who whilst enjoying considerable commercial success were acknowledged as the originators of 'New Wave Of British Heavy Metal'-NWOBHM.
In 2001 Paul relocated to Norfolk and built his own studio - YDS, Norwich and started to record a new album.
Sadly he passed away in August 2002 after a short illness and bass player John McCoy took over the project to complete.
As a tribute to Paul, Angel Air has released the album as a Paul Samson CD and is a fitting tribute to the Man and his music. I’ll be playing three tracks from ‘PS…’ this Saturday.
Expect classic Genesis, Caravan, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Blue Murder plus Sacred Heart, Holly Petrie & Get Vegas.
Songs From The South this week include Horsetraders, Eat A Peach, Laidlaw, Gypsy Sons, a couple of live Sulentic Brothers songs, Redneck Girlfriend (Seattle based but with their hearts deep in Texas) and anything else we can shoe-horn into that hour.
Back to back live classics with Bad Company and something from Live In Albuquerque, the only live album featuring the classic line up of Paul Rodgers, Simon Kirke, Boz Burrell and Mick Ralphs on their 1976 US tour. The album has passed into folklore as a legal wrangle prevented it from being released… not before a copy found it’s way to the ARfm archives.
Then we move forward it time TARDIS style almost thirty years later for Paul Rodgers and his tour with Queen last year.
And April’s here to calm things down with her Soft Spot this week with The Rolling Stones.
I do hope you can join me.
The Classic Rock Show, ARfm Saturdays live online between 15:00 – 18:00 BST UK time.
