The novelty is wearing a tad thin now... even I'm keen to get back to the day job to try and catch up Oh and a public safety announcement.... PLEASE DON'T GO SKATING ON ANY RESERVOIRS, HONESTLY THE ICE IS TOO THIN.... Cheers Paul B

Yep...another mega snow dump overnight and throughout today...on top of the 30cms we already had!!
Luckily, I work from home so didn't have to try to get to work and it was also "The Mem Sahib's" day off today too...although I suspect that the school she works at may well be closed tomorrow too!
Its looking very picturesque though I must say!

PLEASE DON'T GO SKATING ON ANY RESERVOIRS, HONESTLY THE ICE IS TOO THIN.... I wish I was housebound frankly! We rarely get snow here that is bad enough to keep you at home....just bad enough to make things really b***dy difficult! My daily 15 minute walk to the bus stop is taking nearer 25 and I arrive at work with a headache from staring intently at the pavement to avoid slipping over! To cap it all, we had to move out for two mights last week because we had two burst pipes in the house and couldn't turn the water back on when they were repaired because the water main was frozen Yes, really have had enough now! (And can I add another safety announcement? DONT TRY TO DRIVE YOUR CAR ALONG A FROZEN CANAL -EVEN IF IT DOES LOOK LIKE A COUNTRY LANE!

Aggghhh the dreaded burst pipe syndrome.... We (as in the Water Companies) hate this time of year, so many bursts and leaks... but a frozen main, now that is pretty unusual.... Truly fed up with it all now.. drove into Derby today and the further north I got the clearer the roads became.. isn't there something a bit wrong ere? On the way home, roads clear, until I got closer to Burton (bear in mind that Burton is only about 12 miles from Derby!), the snow and ice returned and thick fog?? Time to move 'darn sarrrrfff', me thinks. no wait, you guys have copped for it more than we have... off to bonny Scotland then!! Hope it all goes away very soon.... Global Warming? My Ar** Paul B

Yeah, we thought it was unusual and its never happened before in the 10 years we've been here. but then we did have temperatures of minus 13 that night We've since discovered that the two houses along from us were the same, but theirs stayed frozen even longer. The "Water company" website was next to useless in its advice -it basically said "If your mains pipe is frozen it probably nothing whatsoever to do with us "

Yes, I am sick of the snow! I couldn't get to see Nowhere Boy or Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll at the pictures because it was so bad in the Leeds area. I have also had a cold/chest infection for a whole month. My boss, who is so new (w)age she'd like to ride a bike to work, had the brass nerve to suggest over the phone that I get a taxi in to a team meeting in Headingley when it was snowing heavily. I didn't have the heart to tell her 'Yes, but I might kill a few polar bears'. My sister's car has skidded already and the ice on the roads has been treacherous in Morley.
"If your mains pipe is frozen it probably nothing whatsoever to do with us "
Arrr well that's Water Company speak for, "It's on your land (private) and we're rubbing our hands with glee cos if it bursts we can charge you rather a lot of money to come and fix it!" What tends to happen up here is that the 'councils' get very shirty when a burst happens on a public highway and the water company's have to act on those first... Not right and not fair in my opinion but... Cheers Paul
