2010 is clearly a time of change at ARfm and it is with great regret we announce the departure of Ashley Franklin from the station.
As many of you know, Ashley is a professional photographer and his work is getting busier and busier so he has decided to take up an offer closer to home which will give him more time. We wish Ashley all the best for the future and can honestly say it has been a pleasure working with such a pro. (If you need a pro photographer..check out http://www.ashleyfranklin.co.uk)
However, at the same time we are pleased to announce a new member to the squad.... Shane Carlson.
Some of you may remember Shane's guest appearance on the station some while ago when he hosted the Camel Special. Shane will be joining the team in the coming weeks and taking the 1pm-3pm slot on Sunday (with the associated repeats).
We are also talking to a couple of additional presenters and hope to make further announcements in the coming weeks.

Yes, very sad that Ashley is departing, I have several 'Captain Darling' style entires in my diary that simply say "bugger" and that is the cause of one of them. (although it was a stronger word when I heard that Heather Findlay was leaving Mostly Autumn).
Ashley was a strict critic and a man of discerning taste often making me laugh out loud with his eloquent and often barbed summing up of albums, although not when they were a band or musician I personally liked LOL! I also had the pleasure of being a guest on Ashley's BBC Radio show in the late 90s and it was great to have him join ARfm. However, life moves on and we wish him all the best in his new ventures and thank him for all the great entertainment he has given us each Sunday.
I have every confidence that Shane (a fellow Camel fan) will not disappoint Ashley's loyal listeners. I've heard Shane do a Camel special on one of Paul's shows and so I know he is very capable and look forward to hearing him and his musical selections.

Thanks to my elder sister's usual exquisite timing I've got to wait for her to stop dithering around the White Rose Centre/queue ages in a carvery to celebrate both mine and my other sister's birthdays, so I can't contact the studio directly to say goodbye to Ashley Franklin. Bet she wouldn't do this during a crucial fixture on Strictly Come Dancing/Casualty/Holby Shitty! A big hello to Shane 'Camel' Carlsson - I hope he dedicates 'Ice' from I Can See Your House From Here to the lazy sods at Wakefield City Council who were too idle/tight to put proper grit down in the snow! ;D

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone...Ashley is certainly going to be a hard guy to follow...hopefully I won't let you down!
Rehearsals are well underway...last night I completed a 55 minute trial run to get used to the technical bits and bobs (no voice added yet though though - my new home studio microphone should arrive tomorrow all being well!) and was pleased with the outcome...
Cheers!
;D

Farewell, Ashley. Sad to see your show lost to ARFM. Your choice of music was always of the highest quality. Best of luck in your new venture and with the photography, of course. SynthBruce
