The game on Monday week should be a cracker, Woody. Both teams are in good form with both defences as tight as a camels arse in a sand storm!! The only team I don't agree about, being in the running for fourth place is Portsmouth. Just think they've gone off the boil a bit. Saying that, with Jermaine Defoe, they've got a proven goalscorer up front. We'll have to see in the coming weeks Nice result for Man Utd. Arsenal were appalling!!

With Liverpool out the cup now, its important Benitez gets them to at least a Champions League semi final or 4th place in the league or he is history.
Not sure yet about Villa getting 4th spot. it would be unreal if we did, but I dont think we are good enough or consistent enough to claim it or compete with Europe's finest next season. I think 6th place will be a fantastic finish and a UEFA Cup slot. The fact that some of the Claret and Blue faithful are full of high expectations of getting fourth shows just how far Villa have come under the leadership of O Neill and Lerner. Maybe in a few seasons with a steady squad building process and with the management and board staying at B6, we will see a return to great European nights back at VP and finally a return to seeing silverware with Aston Villa's name as winners. We have the nucleus we just need to make some improvements here and there and we'll be set for a great future.
My tip for 4th would be Everton cos they have done it before and have shown good form of late, the other runners for it have a tendency to have the odd blip and lose points unnecessarily.
Agree about this evenings game between Man Utd and Arsenal. I thought Arsenal were Birmingham City in disguise cos they were that awful.

I'd much prefer to have Moyes or O'Neil as manager of City! Both excellent managers who have to do business on a limited budget (well, compared to Chelski!). No one can beat Richard Money at Walsall who regulary gets a £0 transfer budget fund, requests for the best players to be sold on as soon as anyone comes sniffing around and a list of who's on a bosman!
based purely on points its still touch and go for the remaining euro spots the safe money would be on Everton or Liverpool for the 4th spot. I believe if Everton beats us a week a monday our chance of finishing 4th is highly unlikely. I see Villa are as nervous as City to automatically qualify for europe and have entered the inter toto cup!

Not sure about Everton for 4th spot just yet, there's still along way to go. Sure, Everton are holding all the aces at present but, I seem to remember Everton being 5th for most of last season, only to be pipped at the death by Tottenham, who won their last game, while Everton could only draw!!

Jesus H Christ...... Woody It's really horrible, isn't it? I'm still amazed the the guy actually managed to walk again. He was interviewed after Cisse broke his leg a while back, and although he never played again, he got into coaching on a fairly small scale. Fair play to him. I'm sure that with all the recent advances in medical technology, Eduardo will be nursed back to fitness. It won't be any time soon though.

So.....City have enjoyed a fantastic season probably their best since the early 90's......although in the end we finished a disappointing 9th after an awful run of games at the end .....think this season will always be remembered as the year we beat United home and away! & hopefully the start of bright future for City.....
so we didn't make Europe then after finishing in mid-table......oh your wrong we finished 6th in the premiership fair play league......and by some fluke of luck all the teams above us have all qualified for Europe outright......so City will be in Europe in the UEFA cup so fingers crossed we don't get knocked out in the 10 or so qualifying rounds to the third best team from the Faroe Islands we'll have a good run and show the country their is only really one team in Manchester and its sky blue!

I predicted 6th and was spot on... just call me Mystic Shaggy.
If it wasn't for Man Utd getting turned over by Portsmouth, I think we'd have qualified for UEFA Cup outright instead of trying to get in via The Intertoto Cup. Just our luck, you half expect one of the the big 4 to win the FA Cup and then they all get knocked out. A few years ago we finished in a similar position when O Dreary was in charge of us and lost out on Europe by one goal to Newcastle Utd. Hopefully next season with a stronger squad Villa can go on to win one of the cups and possibly break into the top 4. Consitency is the key and we need to just tweak that to improve it more.
Just a quick note on Hull City in the Premiership. Well done to them on a fantastic achievement, got there on merit after a very strong campaign. Whether they survive or not, will depend on who they bring in to strengthen their squad. History shows many of the Championship teams promoted do not do well and most of them go straight back down. The gulf in class between Championship and Premiership is vast and over 38 games it is really tough. Enjoy the season ahead Tigers fans, sing your hearts out at every game and regardless of whether City stay or go down, you'll be applauded by everyone.
