Tis true I'm afraid Janette. Thank god I wasn't going, as they're the only band (apart from Furyon) that I'd be interested in.
Andrew on melodicrock.com got an e-mail from Bill Leverty stating....
"Bill has confirmed that Firehouse will not play the Z show".

This was posted on their website
Firehouse regrets that due to a material breach in the contract with the promoter of the Dudley, uk show, the Firehouse performance portion of the event has been cancelled. The band hope to come back to the Uk for more gigs as soon as possible.
Now Firehouse have gone there's not one band on the bill worth going for really, unless you really want to see TNT with out Tony Harnell. IMHO TNT aren't TNT with out him.

I saw TNT *with* Tony Wotsit at FF1, they were ok but didn't particularly 'grab' me (altho that could be cos I'd never heard of them before FF so didn't know any of their stuff). I like Tony Mills tho so think that could be really good and am looking forward to being converted Not one band on the bill worth going for? Furyon!!! Plus I love Toby Jepson, like Bob Catley, loved Dante Fox when I saw 'em at FF1, interested in Eden cos I quite liked Kick, don't know anything about this Snakeryder lot really but I'm looking forward to it big time (even without Firehouse) Have I left anyone out? ;D Wonder if they'll get another band in to fill the gap and move TNT up the bill or what? Interesting.......

This is really bad news and we are trying to get to the bottom of the problem. ARfm are heavily committed to this gig in terms of sponsorship and a great deal of time and effort has been put into on our part (not knocking the efforts of others in this).
Needless to say, we are VERY DISAPPOINTED.
To be honest, it is unlikely that ARfm would have agreed to sponsor this without a major headlining act and Firehouse fitted that category. We know that people have purchased tickets purely to see Bill, CJ and Co and we feel extremely sorry for these fans, especially as some may have been encouraged to go through our involvement.
Bill (Leverty) is a friend of ARfm and we have e-mailed him today to ask for the truth behind this decision - we'll let you know as soon as he replies.

Bugger This was being predicted on "another" message board earlier in the week, folks were saying it was a bit suspicious that the Z-Rock date wasn't listed on the Firehouse website

Steve It seems from reading other forums, that this is quite a common problem with Z - Rock, and a certain Mr Alger!

Not one band on the bill worth going for? Furyon!!! What about Furyon. I've listened to the tracks on their myspace page and it just doesn't do anything for me at all I loved Pride and cannot believe they knocked Pride on the head to follow this direction. The 2 Pride albums are awesome, fine examples of melody and hard rock combined. As for Furyon, well, basically i just think their sh1te. But i guess if we all liked the same thing it would get pretty boring. Still doesn't change the fact their sh1te

That's a bit harsh innit luv? ;D I've heard the samples on their MySpazz and I like 'em, not as much as Pride on first hearing admittedly, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it live. (ok I guess I *am* a bit biased LOL ) TBH, I do think Matt's voice suits the more melodic stuff rather than this heavier direction, but we'll see. However, I'll give an honest (and hopefully unbiased ;D) opinion after I've seen them live next Friday night and next Sunday lunchtime!

To recap... Z Rock Part 1..Von Groove headlining, cancelled at the last minute. Z Rock Part 2..Firehouse headlining, cancelled at the last minute. Anyone spotting a pattern here? Once is unfortunate, but twice CANNOT be coincidence. I will not be spending any money on any further Mark Alger organised gigs Wonder if I can get a refund? (Ooh, look, pig flying past)

No more news yet, I am afraid to say.
Firehouse were gigging last night and tonight (Sat) but Bill has responded to my e-mail and has told me to expect a full 'reason' on Monday.

I was going to ask about this breaking story when LJC told me last night. My first reaction was "what shall I have to drink?" This was soon replaced with "Will all the bands be given a longer setlist with TNT headlining?" But as Nick says, if there is a pattern emerging here, what future does the Z Rocks Festival have and also the long term ramifications (liked the sound of that word and have always wanted to use it on a message board) for British Rock Festivals on the whole? I'm hoping that these situations do not have a knock on effect on the future of events like Firefest

I wonder how the other bands on the bill feel? I've seen certain posts claiming that TNT and Bob Catley may pull out as well!! Having read Nicks earlier post, it seems this is a regular occurrence, what with Von Groove, and now Firehouse canceling at the last minute
