Thought this thread could be used to share some of your fave lines from songs, be they scary, romantic, funny whatever! To start off here is a the spookiest I recall! [glow=red,2,300]Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath[/glow]The first time I heard it properly was on the headphones at 2am when I was a teenager on my own staying at my brother's flat when he was doing nights! The 3 lines that had my imagination on overdrive were: "What is this that stands before me? Figure in black which points at me." Big black shape with eyes of fire" When you hear the music and Ozzy singing them with fear in his voice, it is like a fantastic gothic ghost story.

Changing one word in a song some 17 years after it was originally written, made it even better.
BEDSIDE MANNERS ARE EXTRA by GREENSLADE Vocally Dave Lawson sounds like he feels every word as he pleads to his estranged girlfriend/lover:
"Please write to me, if you have the time, please write to me, let me know 'its' mine".
On a live version in 2001 the equally talented John Young (lead vocals/additional keys), sang:
"Please write to me, if you have the time, "Please let me know "you're" mine.
By substituting the word "its"with the word "you're" it changed the song into a gorgeous unrequited love-song, that far more people could empathise with. Making it my favourite Greenslade track, both musically with its lovely atmospheric keyboards and mellotron washes and lyrically because it is so heartfelt and moving.

Another Black Sabbath number (Ok Black Purple...Ian Gillan was lead singer....) Trashed is in my A list at the moment. "I knew I wouldn't make it, the car just couldn't take it, I was turning tyres burning, the ground was in my sky, I was laughing, the bitch was trashed, and death was in my eyes...ooh Mr Miracle, you saved from some fate, I thank you Mr Miracle, I won't get trashed again..oooooooooooh can you hear my lies? Don't you bother with this fool just laugh into my eyeeeeees!" A song about a drunken midnight race that Ian Gillan had with one of his mates. He is lucky to be alive! The song gets even more hardcore with "we had a drop of whisky just to steady our brains cos there was no tequila" Jeezo!

Also the opening lyrics from Whitesnake- Judgement Day...one of Coverdale's finest moments-sends a shiver down my spine thinking about it.

Everyone tries to make sense out of chaos, got to get a grip on this cold world, so you say you believe in god. it's a poor excuse for not believing in yourself, (see no evil, hear no evil, fear no evil)
and the rest of the lyrics in this song.......x

Oh dear that's me in the bad books with Janette again!! No sorry no prize, and yes you're a bit of an anorak for knowing that!! I suppose my real fav lyrics of the moment have to be.... "Blowing on the patio and blowing on the grass, I'd like to take that blower thing and shove it up his arse." On a serious note, any of the lyrics from the superb Orphan Project album Orphan Found always strike a chord. Cheers Prog Paul

I suppose my real fav lyrics of the moment have to be.... "Blowing on the patio and blowing on the grass, I'd like to take that blower thing and shove it up his arse." Yes, Leaf Blower by Revolving Doris, always brings a smile, especially the way she sings it too. Take the link to read about and hear the song, click on play, it takes about 20 seconds-ish before you hear it. www.macjams.com/song/17735
