Personally, I think it would have made sense to announce the whole line-up at the same time.

VON GROOVE CONFIRM SATURDAY APPEARANCE AT Z ROCK 09 3rd time lucky as they say, VON GROOVE have confirmed their appearance at Z Rock 09 on May 30th 2009. After being forced to pull out of Z Rock 08 due to family issues Mike Shotton is gagging at the bit to rock JB's like only VG can.
Mike made the following comment... "Looking forward to rockin' with you all at Z Rock 09...It'll be great to be back!! Hopefully the PA is stacked nice and high...I love a nice view! Cheers!" Michael Shotton

a shitstorm and half dean! i understand your reluctance to buy in advance based on previous Z's, but to be fair whats going on at the MR.com noticeboard is about past grievances and not this years event .......well so far........ I think Mark could attract more advance sales if he made a public statement stating that if the headline act pulls a FULL refund will be issued to all who want it.
Unfortunately Z is in a catch 22 situation, ticket sales are no good on the door, So lack of sales will result in bands been pulled or cancellations. Advance ticket sales are essential to events like this including Firefest!
I'm still gonna get my tickets in advance, but i know i'm taking a risk................

There seems to be an unholy shitstorm kicked up over this at mr.com In relation to Z-Rock there almost always is! Best not to set your heart on seeing any band in particular with this event, I tend to take the "wait and see" approach myself.

Well you can thank that shit storm for why I now, will not, be attending. Not because I put any stock in the shit storm but because it existed at all. Andrew clearly has a axe to grind and Mark is not without blame, believe me... but damn it! Do these people want to see a show or not? Apparently the answer is NO. Nice how the guy who "is" Melodic Rock (that's a joke) is doing all he can to make sure fans don't go to a melodic rock show. How does that work exactly? So 35 people on a message board now dictate your favorite band's tour schedules. Nice! And you wonder why the scene is dying... Some of you would shit if you knew the insider stuff that goes on in this "melodic community".... and some of you already know it all to well I usually stay away from message boards altogether because they make me angry and there's no one within arms length for me to punch in the f#ckin' face... but since I'm already angry I figured why not

A lot of people and bands have been burned before by MA so, Andrew and others are just pointing that out to everyone. Granted, not in the politest of ways but their just warning people of what has happened and what might happen. At the end of the day, people ultimately have to make the choice themselves.

I have had no business dealings with Mark so can't comment on that aspect, I speak as I find and he's only ever been really helpful and friendly towards me and other peeps I know. I've enjoyed the Zs I've been to and fully intend to go to 2009 I don't care who's on anyway, I go for the social aspect and to see my friends that I only get to see at these sort of events. I missed all the stuff on MR.com, but let's face it, most of them are ignorant bastards, I can't believe the way they talk to each other and slag each other off - it's worse than a playground - even when someone makes an innocent comment they get ripped to shreds These are supposed to be grown men FFS

Lee, Seriously, do people need to be warned about MA at this point LOL There's so much more behind the scenes that I can't get into but I'm calming down a bit now. Believe me I'm not a MA defender because I don't like getting into all the drama but when I sit back and ponder why he even bothers trying to put on a show it blows my mind Meantime WigWam risks a poor turnout and they don't deserve that.

Rob, I agree with ya. With this years Firefest being the last(?), it's only gigs like Z- Rock that will keep the scene alive. But, surely you can understand peoples hesitation in buying tickets? I posted a while back on this same thread about getting behind the scene and this show in patricular, and I still stand by what I said. Let's see how things progress, shall we

I will be working on Mr Dargan about a FireFest 6 from the moment I set foot in sunny Brum LOL And yes, hesitation on advanced tickets for Z is a understatement I am now in my "drama free zone" and prepping for FF5 ;D
